Heh! Yeah! I'm still amazed that he thinks it's good to use a level 5 scan on an SSD 3+ times.
Wonder if he knows that reduces the life of the SSD due to unnecessary hammering of the SSD's wear level.

I'm pretty sure that SSD's do their own refreshing.

Yes, and more intelligently. They don't at random refresh or refresh everything, they keep track of what data is most at risk and refresh only that. Because as you say the drive would otherwise waste p/e cycles potentially for no reason.
