Is it possible to recover a deleted file on an SSD with trim enabled?

If I deleted a file on an SSD with trim enabled, is there a decent chance to recover the file? I'm only asking to see what my chances are and if I should pursue a data recovery company or not.

Unfortunately, the odds are low, in the best case scenario of the system powered off and left off immediately after the file gets deleted. But, even in that case, the damage is usually done, especially if it is only one file.

Hi,

When a file is deleted on an SSD with TRIM enabled, the space it occupied is marked as available for use by the operating system. This means that the file's data may have been overwritten by new data, making it difficult or impossible to recover.

However, depending on the specific circumstances of the file deletion, there may be a chance that a data recovery company could recover the file. Factors such as how long ago the file was deleted, how much new data has been written to the SSD since the file was deleted, and the quality of the recovery software and techniques used can all affect the chances of successful recovery.

It is always worth to try a free recovery software before hiring a professional. Some of the free software available are Recuva, Easeus Data Recovery, etc.

File system overwriting has absolutely nothing to do with TRIM. You are welcome to comment on this forum, but we will not tolerate bad advice or spam.

This is not even addressing the issue with TRIM being enabled. It is best not to provide advice on things you don't understand.

No, it is not "always" worth trying a free recovery software demo before seeking professional. There are times when that might be true, but certainly not with failing drives or cases where TRIM is of concern. It is better to power the drive off, as the longer it is powered on, the more the background processes for TRIM will erase and/or the physical damage will get worse.

As for programs you recommeneded, Recuva is a very basic undelete program which almost always fails to get the results the user is hoping for and EaseUS is just utter garbage to be avoided.
