Hey my sandisk 256gb m2 died couple of days ago . It cant be detected anywhere in Windows, diskpart, bios etc. I looked up and its either the firmware or the controller which is 88ss1074 bsw2 marvell. Some folk told me about the firmware access mode, but this model doesn't have the jumpers like Ultra 2 and so. I also thought if u change the voltage u might be able to see some activity. Anyone had same problems with this model? I post couple of pictures.

It makes more sense to carry the dialog on here, rather under a different thread. While it is possible that there are some failing components on this SSD, 99% of the time, the issue is with bad NAND chips and, in turn, damaged firmware that is only accessible with specialized data recovery equipment for SSDs.

Hello, ive send the disk to a finnish Data recovery service and they immediately noticed that the drive had stuck in "safe Mode" :( . They said its gonna take while because they have to unsolder the parts and the memory chips. They said also its likely to succeed only with 15% fail rate. Im still curious about the safe Mode and its meaning. Is there any known method to get rid off safe Mode. I have to pay 670 euros for recovery, but its worth it🙂. I am reliefed kinda.. and I hope People having same Issues on ssd can find help out these threads.

The reason it is in safe mode is because it can't fully load the firmware from the NAND chips. This is very common and usually recoverable by any professional lab with PC3000 SSD and requires no chip removal. Either way, their price is reasonable and converts to about the same as what we would charge here. Do follow up and let us know the final result.
