Platter Swaps

Although the majority of non data recovery professionals think we move platters all the time, reality is, no data recovery professional wants to move platters on hard drives (with very few exceptions). But, when we do and and it works, it is such a sigh of relief when we see the green blocks show up on our screen as we image the sectors from the patient drive to a known good healthy drive.

Today, I'm finishing up the recovery of a 60GB IDE Toshiba laptop drive that had a seized spindle. While there were unreadable sectors on the drive, it would appear that none of the files on any of the 5 partitions were affected, giving us a 100% successful recovery.

Just 2. I had a lot of practice with Toshiba 2.5" platter swaps over the years.
