We discovered an issue with the newer PC3000 cards not being compatible with the Western Digital WD2500JS-40TGB0 (HAWK2).
PC3000 UDMA (Build 5.9.21.5199) - drive comes ready (DRD DSC) and detects
PC3000 UDMA-E (Build 5.9.21.5199) - drive just stays at BSY
PC3000 Express (Build 5.9.21.5199) - drive just stays at BSY
The issue was first noted and reported prior to the latest update, which clearly did not fix it. So, here's to hoping that it will be fixed in the next release...or that the next release doesn't break the older system too.
