Possible Way to Permanently Unlock Seagate?

Post by lcoughey »

I posted this in the MRT section of the forum because that was what was being used in the video. But, the same procedure should work with PC3000, DFL or any other tool that will allow you to unlock and access the firmware of a locked Seagate drive.

A video of the process is shown here.

Basically, these are the steps:

1. Unlock PCB with handshake
2. modify module 40 by clearing everything but the header
3. Remove the handshake

I haven't tested the process yet and noticed that the drive family that they were working on is the Becall. I'd want to test the process with Rosewood, V11 and M11 before trying on an actual client drive.
