Code: Select all

Western Digital, upgrade to: 2.3.6.0

11. Added Preamp DAC edit in ROM tool
Hello,
does this new function help to read better bad zone on surface as behaviour of head weakness?
Is this the same function as for seagate DAC/AFH change that we already know?

I may pay to charge the card and pay for the update to play with some of these features, such as the added support for the Rosewood SSHD.

With the feature you mention, I've used the utility with Western Digital to make average the DAC settings, with limited success. I'm curious to know if this new feature is similar to that or, as you say, similar to how MRT handles the Seagate AFH adjustments. If it is more like the Seagate AFH adjustments, it could help with those cases where a single head is weak.

It is only $120 for the update and well worth it when they deliver good and useful updates. Sadly, based on past experience, the updates have been rather disappointing, to say the least. The good thing is, ignoring the very limited file system support in DE, the full drive-to-drive imaging is still useful and helps keep PC3000 channels free for complex cases.

I've read on mrt forum that new update has heavy bugs on DE.
I don't feel to update at the moment, i have only mrt and i don't need a broken DE.

On the other hand i have read few interesting utilities as the "Preamp DAC edit in ROM tool"...

MRT is more of a toy here...one that I would never want to rely on.

I believe that ACE is paying attention to this and we will have an update in the future too.

While MRT may be first to offer some features, ACE will likely make them usable. :D
