Of course, every power cycle could be the last. I never thought to suggest that it is possible that the drive's instability is due to a failing PCB. You might be able to transfer the ROM to a donor board and see if it helps stabilize the drive.

To reduce the wear on the drive from repower is unlikely without a hardware imager or a DeepSpar USB stabilizer. But the investment of such tools is likely significantly greater than the cost for a professional to just do the job.

At this point, it is likely a $450 CAD (~ $350 USD) case here at Recovery Force.
