Toshiba usb to sata

I read the guide on the acelab blog to convert a toshiba usb to sata, but it is not very clear. Can anyone help me out? i have a toshiba MQ03UBB200 i would like to convert the pcb to sata, because i don't have the pcb G3918A

Below is a hybrid picture of the matching SATA (top) and USB PCBs. Remove the 4 caps at the base of the arrows in the picture, then connect the traces that go to them to the respective positions on a SATA data connector. Keep the leads a sort as possible.

connecting only the sata and powering it with usb from the computer?

I believe that is the intention, to get power through the USB. Personally, I would have just ordered in a SATA drive for the PCB as I know that I will likely need it again later.
