RapidSpar - Feature request that happens to be already on the to-do list

Post by CrazyTeeka »

Me: I have a few ideas for the RapidSpar...
Me: After imaging a drive, automatically power down the source drive.
Me: Start a wipe or secure erase from within RSA.
Me: When imaging a drive, wipe remaining space on target drive.

Serge: That’s all already on the to-do list. RSA will eventually get wiping added to the map tool, so you can wipe by sector type.

I never clone to a dirty drive. Although it doesn't happen often, if the config file gets damaged or the clone drive starts to fail, it becomes an issue. Not worth the risk, in my opinion.

Do you use a StarTech eraser to do the overnight wiping?

I use Linux, DeepSpar and StarTech for wiping...over 25 channels at a time.

I have thought about building a PC thats purely dedicated to cloning or erasing drives with 4-5 hot swap bays. If I go ahead with that is undecided.

I just have a bunch of systems that I have here for recovery. They do recovery mostly during the day and are set to wipe and test drives through the nights.
