Model: ST3000DM001
P/N: 1CH166-302
FW: CC26
Site: TK
SN: Z1F
# of heads: 6 (0,1,2,3,4,5)

Symptom: Inaccessible file system
Cause: Weak head 2, media damage, G-List issues
Solution: Cleaned heads, cleared G-List (got lucky that the drive only had 100GB of data). Head 2 reads worse as LBA increases.

Model: ST3000DM001
P/N: 9YN166-570
FW: CC9E
Site: WU
SN: W1F
# of heads: 6 (0,1,2,3,4,5)

Symptom: Drive clicking and not identifying
Cause: Weak head 4, media damage, media cache
Solution: Disabled media cache in module 93, set head for to read with really long timeouts

This drive is a perfect example of where many techs will mis-diagnose the drive and try to change the heads, only to make things worse.
