Hi,

My hard drive seems to have failed. I have uploaded a video which has the sound it makes when it spins up.

Does anyone know what this sound means and if it would be fixable or recoverable?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jamie

This drive does not sound good at all. My guess is that the heads have crashed and it may be too late for recovery. But, that cannot be conclusive without physical inspection. I don't recommend that you power the drive any more and suggest that you have it assessed by a data recovery lab with a clean room facility.

Unfortunately when a Seagate with DM in the model is clicking, it's never a good thing. Guaranteed to be an expensive recovery and not very likely to be successful either. Sorry to say. Luke from Recovery Force is actually getting good with these models though. Probably because other data recovery companies don't want them and keep referring them to him. :D
