Re: Platter Swap Without Alignment Issues

I've never seen an issue with a single platter swap. As for swapping a single platter instead of the heads seems like a good idea on the surface, but considering you need to remove the heads in most models in order to remove the platter, it is not practical...except for the single head Maxtor N40P, ...

Re: Toshiba usb to sata

I believe that is the intention, to get power through the USB. Personally, I would have just ordered in a SATA drive for the PCB as I know that I will likely need it again later.

Re: 128GB SanDisk Monolithic SD Card

If your goal is to just get the NAND dumps to play with, buying the Flash Extractor NAND Reader is pretty cheap and doesn't require a full license to get the dumps. But, in order to run the app to piece them together and recover the data, you'll need the license.

Re: TimeClock Plus database location

No idea. It is not uncommon when I talk to software vendors for general details about their applications and proprietary files in order for me to provide their client with data recovery support, I get similar responses. Certainly doesn't make me want to recommend them in the future.

HDDSuperClone Imaging by File

After watching this video of how one can use DMDE to create a map of sectors for targeted files to be imported into HDDSuperClone for linear imaging, I admit that while I like the idea of the ability to be added, it is quite a complicated process and not one that I'd want to do every day. It should ...

Re: ST2000LM007 - Weird Read Issue

We were able to complete mirroring by bitmap with only 5 bad sectors, none of which were in any client data files. So, we got a 100% clean recovery here.

Re: ST2000LM007 - Weird Read Issue

Changed heads, still getting the odd random sectors showing as green healthy blocks, but still reading garbage. So, I'll have to do a grep search for the corrupt sector header and change the map of those sectors to damaged after I complete imaging by bitmap. Most sectors are reading as they should.
