Re: iPhone 5 Data Recovery
This is why I keep saying I'm gonna quit doing phone recoveries. The price/time ratio makes them far from profitable.

Re: Western Digital MyCloud for Business?
Unless they end up selling them way below the MSRP in that article, then I can't see why any business would buy a My Cloud over the better options like Synology.

Re: The risks of software data recovery
Sounds about right. Guys just don't know when to quit, so they end up doing stupid stuff like initializing the drive, running SpinRite or other software until they kill a drive that could have been an easy recovery.

Re: SpinRite
Nothing quite like SpinRite to mask symptoms, tell you all it well, and give a false sense of security.
Yet the guys who love this program will tell you you're wrong about it, even after they kill someone's drive using it.

Not to defend computer viruses, but they sure do get blamed a lot for stuff that has nothing to do with them. Seems an easy way to shift blame when you have no idea what's actually wrong with the system.

What were the FW issues and what did you do to work around them?

Re: Western Digital Passports
We've had quite a few of those come in here as well. Though lately most haven't needed head replacement. They just had bad sectors and/or were slow responding. I've actually grown to like these drives I used to hate so passionately.

Re: Hard Drive Data Recovery Help
No, that won't work! I already tried putting the disks in my CD player and my DVD player, and it didn't work. I think the mucus is blocking the lasers from reading it.

Hard Drive Data Recovery Help
Hello,
I have a hard drive that stopped working. I assumed the issue was mechanical and since I'm an auto mechanic I though I could fix it. After I opened the cover my allergies acted up and I sneezed on the little silver disk thingies. Do you think you can get my data back for me?
Thanks!
