Re: RapidSpar - More Features to Come
The SSD firmware fixes alone might make it worth the investment. I honestly think they might need to raise the price if they're going to start adding so many features. I might even buy one for that purpose.

Could be a media cache issue or similar file 93 issue as well. The fact that you can get terminal is a good sign. But, as Luke points out, it's not a bad idea to transfer in the head adaptives from the donor ROM to the patient ROM.

Re: Recovery DVR?
DVR recovery can be very difficult as there's no standard format they use. If you're lucky, it might be a linux box and you can read the data using Linux or using data recovery software like R-Studio to extract the video files. However, more often the data is stored in a proprietary format with embe...

Re: Samsung eMMC NAND
Just an update to this thread, these apparently are built to the same basic specifications as an SD card so they are much easier to recover from than a typical NAND or other flash memory. The controller is built into the chip so all you need is a reader like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/eMMC-eMCP-t...

Re: Is Data Recovery A Booming Industry?
The problem with the lower cost tools is that they look to be cheap knock-offs of PC3000. There was one company who claimed that their system was as good or better than PC3000, yet had absolutely no reputable lab reviews. I had offered to review their product and compare to PC3000 if they'd send me...

Re: Media Recovery
Seems to me you've already done everything possible to sabotage recovery. If you lost data, the first thing to do is STOP USING THE DRIVE!!! Anything and everything you've done that was modifying data on the drive was shrinking your chance of recovery. To answer your question about targeting data fr...

Re: Seagate DM Series Drives
Yes, now I'm actually starting to really like these drives. I think early on a lot of us were mis-diagnosing their issues as head failures. I've rarely had to change heads on them lately as most are media cache issues and easy to fix with current understanding.
